HSLJ Campus Sports

The High School for Law & Justice offers a variety of on-campus athletic opportunities that promote student involvement, physical wellness, and school spirit. Students can participate in intramural sports and represent the school through team-based and student-led athletic programs.

Intramural Sports at HSLJ include:

  • Archery

  • Cheerleading

  • Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball

  • Volleyball (Girls’ and Boys’)

  • PowderPuff -our annual Homecoming Game tradition, where students take the field for a fun and spirited flag football match!

All students must meet academic eligibility guidelines and follow team schedules provided by coaches or the Athletic Director.


Sports at Zoned Schools

If a sport is not available at HSLJ, students may participate in athletics at their zoned high school.

Steps for Participation:

  1. Contact your zoned school for tryout dates and times.

  2. Once selected, have your coach email your grade-level Assistant Principal with:

    • Your name and student ID

    • Name of your zoned school

    • Name of the sport (Fall or Spring semester)

    • Coach’s contact information

    • Attached practice and game schedule

    • Requested athletic period time

Note: Transportation to the zoned school must be arranged by the student/family.

Submission Deadlines:

  • Fall Sports: Submit requests before the first week of school.

  • Spring Sports: Submit requests by the first week of December.

Academic Eligibility:
All student-athletes must comply with UIL No Pass No Play policies. Students are responsible for providing their grades to their coach. Coaches may also request grade verification through the grade-level Assistant Principal.


JROTC at HSLJ

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a credited class at HSLJ that promotes leadership, discipline, and civic responsibility. While not classified as a sport, JROTC involves structured physical training and includes several competitive teams.

Students in JROTC learn about:

  • Leadership and responsibility

  • Army structure and customs

  • Physical fitness

  • Teamwork and discipline

  • Community service

JROTC Competitive Teams include:

  • Drill Team

  • Color Guard

  • Rifle Team

  • Physical Training (PT) Team

  • Archery Team

JROTC students have the opportunity to earn leadership positions and represent HSLJ in competitions throughout the year.
